No One Succeeds Alone

No One Succeeds Alone

While reading The Love Dare, I read a passage that resonated with me. The passage read; “Mighty sequoia trees tower hundreds of feet in the air and can withstand intense environmental pressures. Lighting can strike them, fierce winds can blow, and forest fires can rage around them. But the sequoia endures, standing firm, only growing stronger through the trials. One of the secrets to the strength of this giant tree is what goes on below the surface. Unlike many trees, they reach out and interlock their roots with the sequoias around them. Each becomes empowered and reinforced by the strength of the others.”

This caused me to think, where am I reaching out? Who am I interlocking with? Does my community empower me and support me during intense outer and inner pressures? Seidman, in the book, Thank You For Being Late, said it this way; “Interdependency is a moral reality, It is a reality in which we rise and fall together; we affect each other profoundly from great distances in ways we never could before. In such a world, there is only one strategy to survive and thrive: it is to forge healthy, deep, and enduring interdependencies-in our relationships, in our communities, between businesses, between countries-so that we rise, and not fall, together. It’s not complicated, but it’s hard.”

No one succeeds alone, no one. Our ultimate growth is dependent on the people we surround ourselves with. It is the community we pour into, that pours back into us. This applies to all areas of our lives- Spiritual, Mental, and Physical. How does your community stack up? Who are you missing that can take you to the next level, and where can you lean in more?
