Living Your Purpose

Living Your Purpose

What is your purpose? Have you ever taken time to stop and reflect on what your purpose is?

As business owners and entrepreneurs, we often get caught up in the day-to-day grind of running our companies. But I believe it's crucial to take a step back and ask ourselves: "Why am I doing this?" "What impact do I want to make?"

God calls each and every one of us to aid in fulfilling his purpose. Not because he needs us to, but because he wants us to.

Romans 8:27-28 ESV

And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

To help us fulfill His purpose, God has equipped us with unique spiritual gifts.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 CEV

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.

"...in everything we do." I've noticed that many people only consider these gifts in their personal lives. But I believe they apply to all areas, including our work. The work we do in and through our businesses can impact the Kingdom and make a real difference. Your work can be a vital part of fulfilling your purpose.

So how do we discover this purpose? Here are a few practical steps:

  1. Spend time in prayer and meditation: Ask God to reveal His plan for your life and your business.

  2. Reflect on your passions, talents, and values: What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? What are your core beliefs?

  3. Seek wise counsel: Talk to mentors, spiritual advisors, or trusted friends who can offer guidance and support.

Remember, finding your purpose is a journey, not a destination. It requires intentionality, self-awareness, and a willingness to listen to God's leading.

I encourage each one of you to identify the ways you can use your God-given gifts to fulfill His purpose in all areas of your life. When you've finished reflecting, lay your ideas before the Lord and ask Him to guide your goals.

Proverbs 19:21 ESV

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
