From Setbacks to Spirit-Led Success: My Journey on the You Are Worthy Network

From Setbacks to Spirit-Led Success: My Journey on the You Are Worthy Network

I recently had the honor of being a guest on the You Are Worthy Network podcast. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on my 20-year career—from the aisles of Sears Holdings to the fast-paced world of real estate and my current role as a certified Christian business coach.

One of the core concepts we discussed was the "Map and the Mirror." It’s a tool I use in my coaching to help leaders navigate change. We often get stuck staring in the "mirror" of our past mistakes or even our past successes. While it's vital to check the mirror to see where God has moved in your life, you cannot drive the car while staring at it. You have to look at the "map" to determine the next right turn. [27:13]

My transition from a 17-year career in retail to real estate operations was one of the most nerve-wracking "turns" of my life. I had to learn that:

  • Everyone learns differently: Finding your specific lane—whether that’s through mentorship or shifting from reading to audiobooks—is the key to unlocking your potential. [22:42]
  • Vulnerability is a leadership strength: I shared the story of how a personal season of struggle taught me that "drowning people drown people." When we refuse to ask for help, we inadvertently hurt those we are supposed to lead. [37:07]

The heart of our conversation was a simple but profound truth: You are enough today. Not when you get the promotion, not when you finish the degree, but right now. Your worth is a gift, not a trophy you have to earn. [01:22]

I am currently leaning into more live events and opportunities to connect "kneecap to kneecap" with other entrepreneurs and leaders. My goal is to continue sharing best practices that help you lead well in your career and your core community. [41:02]
